Just saw the picture of the incident and I was about to ask how you got the decals to stay on. The sacrifices we make for good photos lol.

Haha, these were junky anyways so I don’t care but the Squad, that’s another story. I think I spared it except a bit of the chevrons on the back, which I forgot to cover with tape. The bumper numbers were underwater but don’t seem affected.

  3. Dare I say I’ve found a manufacturer that can compare to Skeeter Brush Trucks? They say you can’t beat a skeeter, and that’s probably true, but at least in looks this has got to be awful close. Those wheels 🤤

Not a skeeter that's for sure, really it's just an off the shelf off road bumper, lift, and wheels, but its a mean look especially for a fire truck. As near I can make out, it says Central High VFD on the side.

  4. 37s and no lift on a bone stock 1500, and only in the back... this has got to be the most unique this truck will ever look 😂 mud capabilities are doubles at least, the 14 wideeez only sink in about half as deep.

6” lift, new tires, and of course the rest of the set put in the front is coming soon. Boy I wish this was mine 😂 on the bright side I’ll be putting the 31” stocks on my Dakota, which look big on a little truck

I know it, I had the same thing happen and they didn't just replace it, they gave me 2 replacements!

  6. According to eye witnesses and security camera footage, a very big cloud dropped out of the sky last weekend and knocked over 3 police officers and 4 civilians, as well as 2 police motorcycles. It then proceeded to consume the nearest palm tree.

I named him Cumulanimbostratus (a mix of the clouds cumulonimbus and nimbostratus) or Nimbo for short, which is why I said I said a cloud fell out if the sky. I plop then down in the middle of my layout every now and then, but being cats they don’t tend to stick around 😂

      Joshua B

People say pierce is overrated, and yes it’s very common, but seagrave is pretty much the description of overrated. I can’t stand them anymore, it seems 70% of most large LFC fleets are seagrave and it’s so boring lol. At least pierce has variety with the Quantum, Velo, Dash, etc.

    4. Josh

       Josh

That's a good point, they are pretty much everywhere now. Do I have to many Seagraves? My south district has 2 + 2 E-Ones + an FMC + a ford. That's only 33.3% seagrave 😂

  8. Just a few things to touch up, and then besides the expansion I’ll have the “finished” city I’ve wanted for so long! I’m thinking I’ll turn the red 3 story building into a hospital, instead of filling the space next to it with another building I’ll put an ambulance area or something there. Then I have to finish off the area where I have construction, and it’s pretty much done. I’ll post pics in a new album in the gallery in a few hours.

      Joshua B

Haha, that's kind of the junk yard atm. That'll need to get cleaned up, and I might take advantage of that empty space and put a little unrelated scene thing for making incidents.

  9. Shoulda done this months ago, but I just thought of it now 😂

  10. My city has fallen into a state of disrepair over the last couple months...

    IMG_2480.thumb.JPG.c2d385b415c7990f6c733bc85edf6992.JPG

Of course as seen in my last status update, the wrecked house and boathouse have been taken out (although now they're just sitting in the road lol), but I have to do some cleanup. the 32 stud wide raised expansion on the end is supposed to be very lush and green private property, I'm thinking with a 2 track and cabin, but first I need to pitch the hunk of a table I have and build one that actually lines up with the top of the short cliff. Before I lost inspiration, I had just almost finished a huge re-landscaping project, I had the whole thing torn up while I added 2 plate tall tiled curbs and sidewalks. As a result I had to put in raised green plates across the whole layout, I've never done that before on a city, but thank goodness I had enough 6x8 green plates. I bought 60 or something years ago for a minifig scaled football field I was building, I got half of it done, never finished it and took it apart. I kick myself for not taking pics, it was pretty cool with all the lines and whatnot.

Anyways, I do have plans for it and I'm getting some extra time on my hands so it might start coming together. At least with the water front almost done it's mostly a matter of cleanup and I can start doing stuff in the main part and worry about the expansion later.

@Rylie Davis this is mostly to show ya a pic of my half urban half rural layout, lol. Station 1, which is my single bay urban firehouse, is at the bottom of the pic, you can just see the MARS EMS station on the bottom left, and to the middle right is the dept shops. That and the bridge ease the transition over to the rural backroad. I'd like to have a bit more rural to it, but that's why I'm adding the raised expansion.

    1. Josh

       Josh

Looks like progress is being made! Glad we could help inspire you to work on it 🙂

  11. You can blame the other @ Josh for this, after I saw his digital city I had to get my hands on some bricks 😂

Here's some before and after action on this part of the more rural half of my city. I've always struggled with this area, at first I had a beach, then I wanted it like a bay with a fire department boat house, but nothing ever looked right. Sometimes when you leave something for 2 months and then come back to it, it all comes together real nice, and that's what happened here 😂 I remembered seeing a couple of city threads on Eurobricks, and with that in mind I thought I'd try a sort of boardwalk thing with a SNOT parking lot, but the parking lot kinda took over which was for the better. What I ended up with is this sort of urban looking boat ramp, or whatever ya wanna call it. I'm pretty happy with it, it's my first time doing SNOT for pavement like this (I think there's a special name for it but I forget it) and it came together alright. The plan for the rest of it is to cover it all with blue plates, and then in loose trans blue 1x1 round plates.... like I'm ever gonna actually order 5000 of those lol!

    Before:

    IMG_2481.thumb.JPG.bbabfffa666891a3c98b7b91ef8b71e8.JPG

    After:

    IMG_2493.thumb.jpg.08c50313cf3fe8eac8a024785203afa5.jpg

I used some rails from a mining train to break up the bump, cheese slopes or something would be better but naturally I didn't have 100 of those on hand. It's kinda like a test the way I see it, if your vehicle can't get onto the parking area, then you have no business backing a boat into the water 😂 At some point I would like to widen the ramp.

    Here are more views:

Lol I went shopping yesterday and brought home a good amount of diecast, a couple mainline HW, a couple GL Dually Drivers, a couple GL wheel and tire packs, more hay bales, a MB moving parts (for $2 the value is really good!), some HW premiums, and another GL Ford N.

      Rylie Davis

Also how did you make that peg rack?

    4. Joshua B

      Joshua B

@Rylie Davis half inch think horizontal strips of wood at the top and bottom screwed to the studs in the wall, and then a piece of peg board from Home Depot held to those wood strips with a screw and washer in each corner. The pegs you can get at Home Depot or Lowe’s or any place like that, and there is a variety of kinds. Super handy and it’s a really cool looking way to display carded diecast!

  14. I put some of what I learned about decaling LEGO apparatus into play on my diecast today in the form of window vinyl's. Apparently this size is beyond my printers capabilities; this flag Cummins C was so bad you couldn't even recognize it and the Yee Yee isn't too good either(compare to the pic below), but the classic Cummins C is alright, and from a distance the Cummins C and Yee Yee look are recognizable and add some nice detail.

    s-l300.thumb.jpg.1094d2388970a075f92a7507c2d755dd.jpg  Rc044e6c576cb76ededb425c7ed7c4947.thumb.jpg.b1de21c324a0b55d4b51d600f9cc4dd5.jpg

I'd like to go smaller to make little Far From Stock decals and such, but if it did that bad on these I don't think that's happening. At some point I will try my cheap color printer to see if by any chance that's a little better, I doubt it though.

Built by me out of styrene and wire, this thing makes a penny look like big, not to mention making my tweezers fell bulky when trying to place the wire bits. Next up is a 6BT

  16. I'm even more impressed with Evan Designs. One of my LEDs stopped working a few hours after I got them, so I contacted them about it, and within an hour they shipped my free replacements under the 2 year guarantee; not 1, but 2 replacements. I don't even have to send back the defective one.

It is currently, However I will be rebuilding it into an SVI M2 Medium duty with headlights, 2 movable scene light towers, and 14 different strobes. I'm building and lighting my BCPD F150 first though.

I ordered 3 micro-controllers together, so I don't have to worry about that cost anymore, LED's shouldn't be too bad. I am excited for it though!

  17. What the!? I did not realize how tiny pico was when I ordered these. How on earth can something be so tiny yet quite bright? Insanity I tell you! Very happy with the Evan Designs stuff so far. For sure worth the money!

hehe, good aren't they? The Z size is almost half the pico and it is just as bright! Here is a size chart: https://evandesigns.com/pages/information-about-led-sizes

I used nano and they fit under pretty much everything.

    2. Joshua B

      Joshua B

@ Josh Any smaller and I won't be able to see them well enough to place them 😂 Planning on making a big order at some point with with enough LEDs, coin batteries and holders, and switches for a couple diecast trucks. Z is definitely excessively small for me, and too expensive, so I'll be going with pico. Thought about nano but I figured it's worth the extra 10 cents if I ever have a super tight space.

  18. When the seller ships it as a letter and 26 pieces are damaged 🙄

@Josh Maybe/hopefully. Problem with that is sellers only refund the cost of the items, conveniently (for them) ignoring that I have to pay shipping at another store to get the parts.

    3. Sven

       Sven

Wow, looks like the package went through all four quarters of the last three superbowls...

Unbelievable. Oh and yes, I hate their policy with refunds only instead of sending new parts...

    4. Joshua B

      Joshua B

@Sven lol, I think what happened is they shipped it as a letter so it went through those metal rollers at the post office. The guy said he'd refund them or send replacement IF he has them, which is unlikely. Still have to get back to him with the parts list.

  19. Found this pic of part of my review getting in the LEGO Shop catalog about 5 years ago, I thought that was a pretty big deal 😂 The set is the City High Speed Chase btw

My department is actually not at all influenced by the IRL department, I didn't know they shared a name until several months after I created it. It just so happens I ended up adopting the same scheme though! Maybe I should build one of their rigs, since it could fit easily into my department....
