@Joshua B Thanks, I cant help smiling every time I look at it.

Now just wait till they are all decked out with lights ;)

Can't wait! Is that bay big enough for a ladder? If so you could put the tower in the bay where the battalion is now and park the battalion next to the station.

    4. Josh

      Josh

Well you see, I haven't had a ladder in awhile so I haven't built a station that can fit one haha....later on this station will be downsized and Rescue 115 + Truck 124 will be stationed in station 2.

Little scene I made, also added lights to the FMC.

Question: Do you guys have any suggestions for me? Build wise, post wise, community wise?

      Joshua B

Great scene! As far as suggestions, I would encourage you to keep working on your commercial cabs (both Freightliner and Ford, Kenworth too). While you have good ideas, you tend to make them a couple studs too long, so I would suggest trying to shorten and compact, never be afraid to rip it apart and rebuild, and definitely give 5-wide a try haha!

Also, I was noticing the other day how much your color schemes have improved! When I first joined, tbh, your schemes were too wild, and while I realize to you they made perfect sense, to the average onlooker it was basically just a bunch of blue, yellow, and white stripes stacked on top of each other. Now you've simplified it to consistent, realistic schemes that are still unique and look great! Keep it up bro!

      Thanks!

(both Freightliner and Ford, Kenworth too)

Definitely trying to work on these more. I am actually working on new F-150 and 350 designs. After building my battalion I have fallen in love with SC wheels, so I will use those.

While you have good ideas, you tend to make them a couple studs too long

I appreciate the honesty! and I do agree, the ford version of 1-4 is a great example of this I think.

definitely give 5-wide a try haha!

For big trucks like kenworth and frieghtliner? Not really a big fan to be honest, the windshields always look funky.

*insert all the color scheme stuff here lol*

I agree. I have really been trying my best this year to make it look more professional. up until maybe a year ago like you said, I kinda just threw all the pieces together. Good example being this comparison: https://www.instagram.com/p/CDB2yEYhGpL/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Trying to not toot my own horn here, but I am really proud of where they are now. It is now a unified, simple tricolor design with an upper, lower and stripe color system. I think the most beautiful example of this would be the FMC. I have also broken so many of my own records this year: A unified color scheme (first time ever), 6-7 wide ambulance, 5 wide pickups and SUVs, one truck away from a full fleet, (if I get it done this year) first truck company in many years, first rescue in about 2 years, more than one engine at a time, first IRL E-One, etc.

Thank you for your honesty, hopefully they get better as time goes on! I also can't wait to start work on the city itself so I can start learning proper scene setup.

Welllll..... He's a district chief, and I happen to know that the theater in the back ground is in South Brickford, and you just got your pieces from bricklink, which at some point you said were for South Brickford's Expedition..... So that would highly suggest that his new 2020 Expedition was just delivered 😂

    2. Josh

      Josh

dang it your good and that is correct! just waiting on a few more pieces and I will be ready to post it!

In the meantime I am building Engine 112's FMC/Spartan.

  4. Got my bricklink order! smoothest online shopping I think I have ever experienced.

    1. Joshua B

      Joshua B

Glad to hear you had a good experience! Be careful though, and ALWAYS read the sellers feedback, because not everybody runs an honest business with good customer service.

    2. Josh

      Josh

      Don't worry! I made sure to! ordered from a 100% positive (2000+orders)

  5. found a few LEDs lying about so I put them in the new ambo with a fresh battery... they where so bright it threw my phone out of focus haha.

      Looks awesome!

  6. I have a little something almost ready to release that I have been building over the weekend...its not an emergency vehicle in the typical sense, really hope you guys like it! it is the first thing I have built since getting home from college.

  7. I didn't know that sellers left feedback on buyers pages, so I go on brick link today to work on sorting out pieces for my next few projects (I upload studio files to the wanted lists and I delete/change quantities as I find bricks). The seller left a note saying I was a fantastic customer and I don't know why but it made my day lol.

    1. Joshua B

      Joshua B

Hahaha you're supposed to leave feedback for them too FYI

    2. Josh

      Josh

Good to know, parts haven't arrived yet so I will once I confirm they are all here. Thanks for the tip!

  8. Just put in my first ever bricklink order!

      Rylie D

How have you gotten your pieces in the past?

    2. Josh

      Josh

@Rylie D I have been collecting sets since I was 3, so I haven't had to buy bricks or sets in 5 years (not counting my two modular buildings)...I have a HUGE collection lol.

  9.  Little EmergencyBricks exclusive sneak peak for you guys! I should mention that the deck gun and the angled intake valve where inspired by @Michael P.

  10. why am I looking through the internet for a real steel 1987-88 FMC Spartan engine...

    1. Rylie D

      Rylie D

Because you want to buy one.

      Yeah kinda 😂

Looking around some more. Used fire apparatus are cheaper than cars for goodness sake. Imagine driving up to work someday in like a 1980 MACK CF? 😂

  11. YOOOOOOOOOOOO. I just discovered something super cool! its an IRL fire department call sign system that is basically the same as mine! It is Newtown CT. OK so, the whole town has a "Hook and Ladder Co" these are the "100" call numbers. Then inside of that town there are a few sections with their own names. Dodgingtown which has the "200" numbers, Hawleyville which has 300, Sandy Hook which has the 400 and Botsford, which is 500.

    300: https://hawleyvillefire.com/apparatus-2/

    400: http://sandyhookfire.com/apparatus.html

    500: http://botsfordfirerescue.com/apparatus/

Here is the crazy part: I used to live there many many many years ago (like 10+) and I never knew this until now. They have some cool rigs too.

    1. Rescue 423

      Rescue 423

Wow. All they need are some crazy color schemes and you'd probably move back 🤣🤣🤣

    2. Josh

      Josh

@Rescue 423 They do! Botsford is lime green and dodgingtown is white with blue stripes! CT is a very expensive state, and not as pretty as where I am now, so I am probably not gonna move back ever haha. I still have friends there so I may have to visit someday and do some firebuffing haha.

  12. Hey guys! Here is my SkunkWorks design for a 1987 FMC/Spartan Engine. I have always loved these FMC trucks and was inspired to build one after seeing a picture of one in action in Winsted, CT I decided to build one myself. I am very pleased with how this turned out, and I hope you guys like it!

If anyone is curious to see my reference pictures:

This is an active duty 1988 FMC/Spartan (the inspiration)

Here is a retired 1977 FMC/Spartan (the look I was going for). Note, this one is long gone, I wish it was still around though.

If I ever decided to get into restoring fire apparatus, an old FMC like this one would be my first one.

      Josh

      @Joshua B Thanks a bunch!

  13. It was a tough decision but I decided to downsize a bit, I will only have one tower or tiller per district until further notice...that being said, I am only 2 trucks away from having my first fully completed fire fleet!!!! These would be Battalion 100 and Truck 124. Truck 124 will be breaking a few records for me. First, it will be the first IRL ladder truck for my department in 4+ years. Second, it will be my first tiller IRL ever, and third after battalion 100 is done, it will be completing one of my fire departments for the first time in history (not counting Brickford City EMS).

  14. I was able to design a diagonal road using the new system. Never been able to do this with base plates.

No they did not add them in, I just threw some tiles on the 16x16 plates.

Coolio! Problem is, it would be a pain to fit in plates around that diagonal road to put buildings on. IMO no road system will ever be close to perfect, but the baseplates are as good as it's gonna get any time soon.
