    Community Update

Hey all, Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that the community has received a few maintenance and security fixes over the past few days. In the process of installing these updates you may have noticed various pages throwing errors. As it turns out, there was some incompatible code that wasn't playing nice with the updated code and had to be fixed/disabled to get things working properly. As of now, everything should be working as intended. As always, please let me know of any errors you stumble upon so I can resolve them. There are some minor theming issues you may notice that were also broken in the update - I will be working on these as well over the coming days. Thanks for your patience while I was troubleshooting these issues!
  3. Hi all, As you may (or may not) know, Emergency Bricks has a Discord server that functions as an alternative place to communicate. @ Josh has graciously accepted the role of our Discord admin and will be managing the day to day operations over there from here on out. Feel free to join the server and participate as much or as little as you'd like. Those of you who remember the old "roleplay" forums will notice that those have moved to Discord in the form of Tactical/Dispatch channels to allow for a more real-time experience if that's your thing. As always, any site downtime, technical, or other support issues can also be reported in the Discord if you are unable to utilize or login to the site for any reason. Thanks again @ Josh!
  4. I don't have much of a department. But I do have a unique perspective on the aviation side if anyone has any questions regarding airframes, roles/missions, crew configurations, or anything else HEMS.
  5. Update: Basic watermarks have been implemented featuring the new EB logo in the bottom right corner of all photos and screenshots uploaded to the gallery and workshop. This is to (in theory) protect from most blatant rips from the website. The original, untouched photo is still available for download by the creator if they have any need for it in the future. At this time, custom per user watermarks are not supported but will remain something we hope to implement in the future. The watermark we chose was a plain, transparent white version of our logo without text to avoid from being distracting in your images. In the vast majority of images it should be out of the way entirely. We had to balance the size between being big enough to be a meaningful watermark with being so small it was pointless as a watermark. If you have any feedback I'm all ears, but for now I'll mark this suggestion as implemented.

  7. As our frequent visitors already know, accessing EB! has been a little spotty over the past week during times of infrastructure migration and improvements. We are happy to report that we are now 100% on our new primary server which is using a Linux Debian based operating system to provide rock solid stability and reliability for our community. We also migrated away from MySQL over to MariaDB in hopes of cashing in on the performance gains there too considering how heavily we rely on our master database for every aspect of the site. We have pretty much always utilized Amazon S3 for our image server to provide content service to our members as well as provide a very reliable and secure off-site server for said images. I am happy to report that we are now utilizing daily off-site backups of our entire site and databases as well through similar means. This move will prevent a catastrophic failure like we experienced earlier this year, and allow us to restore the site to any point needed should data become lost or corrupt. While those changes were fairly big ones, we aren't done yet. I am constantly working on improving the user experience here. I have plans to improve our page load speeds further and make better use of caching to save on what resources are served. While this may result in a little downtime here or there, from here on out it things should be pretty reliable. I haven't forgotten about all of the feature suggestions either. There is a lot on my plate, but I will continue to implement whatever features I can, while improving the existing ones as well. This includes working on the user-selected themes when I am able. I appreciate your patience and support through all of the work. I also would like to thank the @Community Ops Team for their reliable presence on the front-end while I continue to work primarily behind the scenes. Stay tuned for more updates!
  8. We have the ability to add an EB watermark, which was something I had planned for down the road (Reworking our branding at the moment.) I am unsure if I could have it setup for that to be switched out with custom watermarks, but I'll look into that as well.
  9. I am going to start working on some custom CSS/theming for the community skins. I was interested in hearing about some color schemes you'd be interested in utilizing. Feel free to suggest dark or light color palettes. Links to example websites you like would be helpful as well. I won't be able to accommodate every single request, but I can get a general idea of what you guys like and try to cater to that the best I can.
