Introduction:
Welcome to Emergency Bricks. This is where we give you a chance to tell us (and each other) what you think about everything and anything LEGO Fire & Emergency Services and then some! Our goal is to make this the best source for your LEGO fire & emergency service needs around, but to do that we need you. We want to hear what you have to say! After all this community is for you.

That being said, in order to maintain a friendly and generally happy atmosphere, as well as cover our behinds legally as well as all of yours, we need to get some rules out of the way. So there are a few rules we need to post that you need to be follow. Unfortunately, anyone who can't follow these rules may be banned from joining the conversation.

The Basic Rules:

  • This board is being put up so we can be social and talk about one of our favorites things - LEGO's!
  • This forum is oriented around emergency services, and because of such, topics and conversations may include that of emergency scenes which can be inherently graphic in nature as well as the occasional pranking/joking between members as this is the internet. By signing up for this forum you have agreed that you are 18 or older. If you are not comfortable with mature themes or language or once in a while being the butt of a joke, we suggest you avoid this site entirely. We reserve the right to ban anyone who does not meet that requirement. If you choose to ignore these guidelines and sign up anyway, it is not our responsibility if you are offended by what you read or see. Similarly, if you are an adult who is offended by what is often labeled as adult content, you should probably avoid this site.
  • By registering with this site you have agreed that we (Emergency Bricks) are not liable for user generated content.
  • Nobody likes a liar, therefore any user found impersonating a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, or any other public servant, as well as stating that they have done things they haven't in terms of treating patients or working on accident scenes may be subject to a suspension or ban to be determined by the website staff.
  • We promised to respect you and we need you to respect others. That means that we will remove any phone number, address or other personally identifying information posted in the Bulletin Board section if it violates someone's privacy, is harassing or could lead to harassment or is otherwise inappropriate. Also, any posting of your own phone number, address or any other personally identifying information is prohibited.
  • Grossly Offensive material is also prohibited. Offensive is a pretty broad term, but we think you know what we mean. (You're going to have to trust our judgment, if you don't.) This includes any messages or material that are ethnically, racially, religiously or sexually offensive, insulting or demeaning. It also includes messages that are harassing or threatening to others. In other words, if you wouldn't like it said about you, don't say it about others. We don't want to be censors, but non-constructive negative comments may be inappropriate.
  • Please refrain from swearing throughout the website, occasional slip ups will not be a problem but we can all be civil and express our thoughts without being vulgar. We reserve the right to enforce this rule as we feel necessary via warnings, or allowing certain things to fly at the moderating teams discretion, but when in doubt just don't. Just because there is a bad word filter in place doesn't mean you need to make it go off and replace whatever you said with **** either. (Also it doesn't make you cool if you're young and you can swear on the internet behind your parents in back...)
  • Don't discuss any illegal activities. This includes piracy and other forms of intellectual property infringement! Just use your common sense on this one.
  • Harassment is an issue that won't be tolerated on Emergency Bricks. Any user found posting or sending messages that harassing or threatening to others may be suspended or banned without notification. This also includes abusing, intimidating and stalking behavior.
  • We reserve the right to monitor the boards and delete any postings that don't adhere to these rules, our standard site terms and conditions and our privacy policy. This includes postings that disrupt or interfere with our technical operations.
  • Finally, because we can't think of everything offensive or inappropriate that may be said, we reserve the right to immediately delete any posting or ban any user at our sole discretion. (Sorry, but it might be necessary.)

Disclaimer:
We reserve the right to alter, edit, add or amend these and all other rules at any time with little or no prior notifications to suit the best needs of the community and preserve the integrity of the website and it's related assets. We will do our best to notify the community when prominent changes are made.

We reserve the right to immediately delete any posting or suspend any user at our sole discretion.

Forum Rules & Guidelines

Pertaining to the forum portion of the website.

Introduction:
The forums are a great tool to interact with other community members, share new creations, post tips and tutorials and so much more. However, the majority of the content in the forums will be user generated. To ensure the forums aren't abused as well as to protect our community members, please reference the following rules when utilizing our community forums.

The Rules:
  • Please Do Not Spam!
Spam or Spamming is the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately. Spam will not be tolerated on these forums and should be reported to the forum moderation team immediately. Spam can be posted by humans or internet "robots" also called "spambots" and should be handled with caution as some links may lead to potentially harmful content, viruses, spyware and more. Spam will result in a ban from the forums.
  • No Flaming
Flaming also known as bashing, is hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users and will not be tolerated on these forums. If members are seen participating in any sort of flaming, flame war, argument or fight they will be warned to stop and may be suspended from the forums. If you must confront someone over something, it must be done using the private message system or not on this website at all. Multiple offenses of flaming will result in disciplinary action and possibly a ban.
  • No Shouting
Shouting is submitting a post, topic or message using all capitalized letters such as: THIS PHRASE. Shouting is considered poor web etiquette, a form of attention-seeking behavior and is considered very rude. It disrupts the natural ease of reading and is visually distracting. Posts with shouting in the titles or content will be altered or deleted and the poster will be warned. However, use common sense as capitalization can also be used to separate sections of text or act as a header, so tasteful uses of all caps will not be punished.
  • Speak English!
The official language of this forum and website is English. Please do your best to use correct grammar in your posts. While we are not going to be the grammar police and correct every mistake, we will not allow text message style language or "leet speak" on these forums and posts containing such will be altered or deleted and the user being warned. Leet speak involved typing out messages with numbers such as: 7h15 m3554g3 f0r 3x4mpl3. Text message style language, or chat speak is also prohibited as it is just lazy. An example of this would be: omg I just saw da coolest thing 2day.
  • Don't Post Bad Things
Prohibited content in posts involves but is not limited to the following content: pirated software/warez, gambling, hacking, fraud, nudity or pornography any other illegal, racist, demeaning, or otherwise inappropriate content as determined by the moderation team.
  • Don't Advertise Without Permission!
Unlike may other forums out there, we completely fine with you advertising your personal website or business so long as it relates to this community and will not take advantage of or affect our community members in a negative manner. Therefore please do not post any advertisements without checking with our moderation team first. Advertisements posted without permission will be deleted. If you'd like to link to your LEGO fire department you can use the Web Directory freely.
  • Be Careful Buying, Selling or Trading
We do not officially endorse buying, selling or trading products on these forums, but as that is a big part of this community we have provided a forum to allow you to take part in this practice on your own. All we ask is that you be smart about this, do not buy from someone you do not trust or that has a poor reputation amongst the community. We are not responsible for any non-paying buyers or sellers who do not send their items. Be smart about who you give your home address or payment information to. If you are under 18 please have your parents look over the deal and give you permission.
  • Easy On The "What Do You Use/Like/Carry?" Type Threads.
These types of threads are starting to get a bit redundant, unless you have something pretty creative let's try and come up with some better more intuitive or relevant topics for free chat. These threads seem to be made when people just want an easy way to increase post count and clog up actual good topics with more and more "What do you use/carry/like/prefer/care about/etc" topics. After so many more of these types of topics will being to be locked upon posting.
  • Post A Picture Of... Threads
I know some members here like to do the whole "post a picture of your favorite ______" and to an extent that is fine. However when each image posted (or by some members 50 images) is a full size image, that becomes a problem, both technically and for members attempting to browse with slower internet. For this reason if you are going to post pictures, and they are larger than a linked thumbnail, in a thread like that, don't post the image. Instead post a text link to it. If you're posting a flickr photoset link it will show a nice slideshow automatically within the post. We will be removing images posted that abuse this rule and replacing them with hyperlinks without notice. Continued abuse may result in warning points.

Shoutbox Rules & Guidelines

Pertaining to the shoutbox portion of the website.

Introduction:
The shoutbox is currently by far the most utilized communication tool on this website. It is also the most visible to visitors who stop in to see what this site is all about, and members who visit from day to day. Due to the high traffic and visibility of the shoutbox, please refer to the following rules and guidelines before and during use. Failure to comply with the following rules will result in a temporary ban, or "time-out" from your ability to use the shoutbox. The more violations of our rules you commit, the longer the time period your ban will be. Multiple bans may result in a permanent ban from the shoutbox alltogether.

The Rules:
  • Please Do Not Spam!
Spam or Spamming is the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately. Spam will not be tolerated in the shoutbox and will be deleted and as soon as it is found. Spam can be posted by humans or internet "robots" also called "spambots" and should be handled with caution as some links may lead to potentially harmful content, viruses, spyware and more. Spam will result in a ban from the shoutbox, either temporary or permanent.
  • No Flaming
Flaming also known as bashing, is hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users and will not be tolerated in the shoutbox. If members are seen participating in any sort of flaming, flame war, argument or fight they will be warned to stop and both parties will be temporarily banned from the forums, regardless of who started it. So be the bigger person and ignore it, walk away or change the topic. If you must confront someone over something, it must be done using the private message system or not on this website at all. Multiple offenses of flaming will result in disciplinary action that may include a site-wide ban.
  • No Shouting
Shouting is posting messages using all capitalized letters such as: THIS PHRASE. Shouting is considered poor web etiquette, a form of attention-seeking behavior and is considered very rude. It disrupts the natural ease of reading and is visually distracting. Posts with shouting in the titles or content will be altered or deleted and the poster will be warned. However, use common sense as capitalization can also be used to separate sections of text or act as a header, so "tasteful" or controlled uses of all caps will not be punished.
  • Speak English!
The official language of this forum and website is English. Please do your best to use correct grammar in your posts. While we are not going to be the grammar police and correct every mistake. The shoutbox is generally more relaxed so minor occurences of text speak to shorten messages or allow for a better flow of conversation will be allowed to a certain extent. Your forum moderators will kindly ask you to correct your style of speech should you totally abuse the allowed expressions.
  • Don't Post Bad Things
Same as anywhere else on the site, prohibited content in posts involves but is not limited to the following content: pirated software/warez, gambling, hacking, fraud, nudity or pornography any other illegal, racist, demeaning, or otherwise inappropriate content as determined by the moderation team.
  • No Soliciting!
Solicitation in the shoutbox is 100% prohibited. Members do not need to be badgered with requests to buy your items, products or services. If you'd like to post some things you have for sale, hire a builder, or anything of that nature; do it in the Buy Sell Trade forum or via private messaging. Not in the shoutbox. Violaters will be warned once prior to a temp ban from the shoutbox. (Please refer to the forum section on buying, selling or trading rules prior to engaging in any such activity.)
  • No Flooding
Flooding is the the repeated posting of the same message in order to get a variety of reactions including: acknowledgment and a response. A common example of flooding would be filling the shoutbox with emoticons. A good indicator to avoid flooding is to ensure you're name and messages are not the only ones visible in the shoutbox. The staff understands at times the shoutbox may glitch and accidental double posts may occur, this is ok.

Note that flooding also includes asking if anybody is online multiple times. If they didn't answer the first time, let it go. There is a handy little feature at the bottom of the main page of the forums that will show you who is currently online within the past 15 minutes. Make use of it.
  • Staff Has The Final Word
If you are told by an administrator or moderator to refrain from doing something, do not start a game of last word with the staff member. Our word is the final word. If we tell you to stop doing something that violates our rules, stop. Don't explain why, don't try and ask "Well can do I do this instead?" or any other form of continuation that further drags on the conflict. Just stop, say ok and move on. If you feel you need to explain your side of the story, do so via PM.

Status Updates Rules & Guidelines

Pertaining to the status update feature of the website.

Introduction:
Status updates are a quite frequently utilized communication tool on this website. These updates are also the second most visible to visitors who stop in to see what this site is all about, and members who visit from day to day. Similar to the shoutbox in that regards due to the high traffic and visibility, please refer to the following rules and guidelines before and during use. Failure to comply with the following rules will result in you status updates being locked, or deleted without use. Abuse of the feature may result in your ability to use it being removed all together, and even result in possible suspensions or bans. The more violations of our rules you commit, the longer the time period your ban will be. And as always; multiple suspensions may result in a permanent ban from the site completely.

Spam will result in a ban from the a deleted status update, and either a temporary or permanent ban from the site.
  • No Public Bashing
Essentially the same as the rule above about flaming, but we felt it necessary to get very specific for those with any doubts. This community is not about who's fleet is bigger, who has more knowledge, who has been around longest, who the better position at an explorer post, if you want to pick friends like that you can do say at another emergency lego related site or group. Here everyone is treated equally and the same rules apply across the board. This is why we will not tolerate public bashing, slander/libel or defamation of ones character based on your own personal feelings. This just turns ugly and takes the community 5 step backwards in progress. This community is about sharing and creating, if you can't do that without being a bully about about things, perhaps you should take a step back and remember that it's only a website, this is the internet, it holds no standing in the real world, being a big shot here is like being the dwarf among midgets for lack of a better phrase.
The shoutbox does have a character limit so minor occurrences of text speak to shorten messages or allow for a better flow of conversation will be allowed to a certain extent.
Solicitation beyond just posting an update letting others know to refer to a post in the Buy, Sell, Trade forum in status updates is 100% prohibited. If you'd like to post some things you have for sale, hire a builder, or anything of that nature; do it in the Buy Sell Trade forum or via private messaging. Don't carry this business out in a status update. Violators will be warned once for free, after that warning points will begin to be issued.
A good indicator to avoid flooding is to ensure you're name and messages are not the only ones visible in the status update column. The staff understands at times the shoutbox may glitch and accidental double posts may occur, this is ok.
  • No Relationship Updates
All status updates will not contain any updates, news, declarations or any other type of annunciation detailing, describing or otherwise telling the community about your current relationship status. This includes updates about your boyfriend or girlfriend, break ups, first kisses, and so on. If you're young we get that this may be exciting to you, but it doesn't belong here. You may express your excitement to those who actually care via private message.

Rules & Guidelines | Special Considerations

For things that don't fit well in anywhere else, or cover multiple sections of the website.

  • In regards to "My Little Pony";
While I understand "Friendship Is Magic" for you "bronies" out there, the majority of us are not fans of the little rainbow colored, flying ponies here. In an effort to better balance your freedom of opinion / expression with the majority desire to be rid of My Little Pony (MLP) from Emergency Bricks, the following rules will be placed into effect:
    • My Little Pony avatars, signatures and member titles will be permitted in order for you to express your views to some extent.
    • Any reference to My Little Pony in the forums outside of the "Free Chat" forum in the "Community Hub" category will be deleted or moved to the appropriate forum. Exceptions to this rule will include the following:
      • Forum introductions (in the appropriate forum) detailing of a persons feelings towards MLP
      • Gaming posts pertaining to MLP video or computer game.
      • Art & Design posts in which you may have drawn or otherwise created MLP art.
** Note that all of the above remain inside the "Community Hub" forum category and not within any of the "emergency" related categories.
    • My Little Pony will no longer be permitted to be uploaded into the Emergency Bricks Gallery. Instead we suggest you use an image hosting service such as Photobucket or ImageShack for your MLP images to be hosted on.
  • In regards to "Memes";
    • Discussion topics on memes will be allowed in the Free Chat (if you did not create it) or the Art & Design (if you did create it) forums for discussion only. An example post that will be reluctantly tolerated will be something along the lines of: "Have you seen this new meme?" or "What do you think of this meme I made?" - However abuse of this privilege will result in a ban on memes all together.
    • Forum replies which include an image called a "meme" as a response to the original poster are from here on prohibited. Use your words please. This means no images of troll faces, MLP or any other memes in response to someone post in a forum.
    • Memes of all types are barred from upload within the Emergency Bricks Gallery. Hosting space is limited, and your upload of a meme takes up space from someone else who may be posting something actually related to the emergency services or LEGO in general.

EB Incident RPG Forum Rules
Drafted by by EB Moderating Staff. Lead contributor: Dustin C.

  • Do not post in an incident thread if you are not participating in the M/A process.
(for example, to criticize or critique others incidents)
Hijacking other members incidents will result in warning points issued. If you do not like the way an incident is being played out then keep it to yourself. Nobody is perfect and all around the world people respond differently to different situations. |
(You may open up another thread to address concerns.)
  • Only incidents that involve M/A allowed. No solo incidents. If you do decide to post solo incidents they must include pictures and most be posted under "Showcase".
  • Keep it professional at all times. No LODDs involving other M/A departments out of revenge.
  • No using ALL CAPS at any time. (With the exception of the word "MAYDAY").
  • Only use the apparatus you have available. Rigs designed in LDD and apparatus being used as mutual aid at another incident do not count as being an available rig.
  • Respond to your incidents in a timely manner. Incidents should not go on for 10 days. 1 or 2 days max. All incidents going without response from the incident commander within 2 days will be closed.
  • Members may have only one incident running at a time. Do not open another incident until previous incident has been terminated and all resources have returned to station.

All rules subject to change/addition at anytime without notice. As always, staff has final word on these issues.
There will be times staff must step in to head off issues not explicitly violating the aforementioned rules, staff reserves the right to use their own judgement to close topics for whatever reason they deem necessary.
